Hello everyone! I am not very good at blogging but I am going to keep you guys updated on my blog. I am working in pre-k, k class for an internship this year and I have a few concerns or questions. In my classroom even though they are very young their is no technology in sight. Kids don't even know much about a cell phone which is surprising to me. Do you think that this is a good thing or bad thing? The students in my class don't use computers on a regular basis and all thier work is paper formatted. From my point of view I know technology is very important in schools but I ma a little confused on why not in this classroom? Another question I have is do you believe kids this young should even start using technology or not? Please respend when you can I really would liek to get your opinions.

word processor
Word processing is basically learning how to create, format
and edit a text. Word processor will most definitely need to be used in my
classroom. I feel it is important to connect students with technology as soon
as possible so they can learn. There are many ways I will integrate word
processor in my classroom. Since I am working with the younger generation my
students will not need to learn as much with word processor. Students in my class will learn the basic of
basically the structure of a computer, how to turn it on and off things like
that. Then for word processor documents I can teach my students how to type
letters, and numbers, how to write their names using a keyboard. When we learn
all that then I will transfer to teaching them how to take pictures and place
them on a word document, how to paint or use colors, how to form shapes, how to
spell check information. I want my students to start young knowing these things
so that when they do move up grade levels they will already be ahead of the
game. I will also make some of these things become assignments to see how independent
students are when it comes to using word processor. These are the main things I
will use processor for, in my classroom it will not be used as often because I
am working with the younger kids but even with that they can still start young
and learn the basics.
Copyright concerns
When it comes to copyright it becomes a very important thing
to address especially with students. I believe it is important to make sure you
start talking about it at the youngest age you can. For students learning about
copyright can help them to discover what is ok and what is not ok. Copyright
can lead to huge fines, suing and jail time depending on how big it is. We want
our students to be as educated as possible when it comes to things like that so
it doesn’t happen to them. Back when I was in high school a girl got in huge
trouble for using copyright information and it was because she had no idea what
it was even at the age she was at. The age grade I plan on teaching I may not
go into much detail about because they will be at a younger age and papers and
essays and things of that nature usually doesn’t come into place until about
the middle or high school level.
Students should be aware of copyright concerns so that when it does come
about they can know whether or not what they are doing is wrong and they won’t
have to be like that girl from my high school and face the consequences. Copyright
can be a very consequential issue and the early taught the better the prevention
is. As teachers we have to make sure our students are protected and have a
bright future.
spreadsheets
Spreadsheets were used a lot in my classrooms when I was in high
school. Teachers would use those to keep track of things and we would use them
to stay organized. When I become a teacher I think spreadsheets will also be an
important factor in my classroom.
Spreadsheets can be used for many things; they also can help with
effective teaching and organization. I will use spreadsheets for one to keep
attendance which is an important factor in education. I will also use spread
sheets to keep track of homework turned in, missing homework, and overdue
homework things like that so I can stay organized and make sure my students are
working to their best abilities. My students will use spreadsheets as well.
While I am tracking work they will be tracking their own work so they have a responsibility
as well. I also know that sometimes teachers can mess up on things and they
will always have an extra copy to keep just in case something does happen. I
may also use spreadsheets for reading logs. I want my students and myself to
keep track of what they are reading and when for those times when reading logs
come into place. I won’t use spreadsheets other than those key things I named
because I want my class to be very hands on and I want my students to get the
most effective learning that they possibly can.
How teachers can use blogs?
Teachers can use blogs effectively in the classroom just to keep up with their student’s thoughts. It is important for a teacher to know what their students are thinking not only on an educational level but on a personal level as well. Teachers can use blogs to gain insight into a student’s mind and see what is really going on. This is also another way for teachers to get to know their students. Teachers can ask question like how do you feel about this and what do you think about this and ask students to answer openly and honestly. In order for it to be effective though teachers must respond as well so on the other hand students can get to know their teachers. Also in order for it to be effective teachers must also hold a discussion in class so students can voice their opinions as well. Teachers should have no part in this so students may once have a say on things. Another way for it to be effective is you have to make sure the things they blog about connect to their lives or them in general in some kind of way. It tends to have a bigger impact on students when it relates to them and their peers. IPods can be used in the same way just to get to know your students and technology is one of the best ways to go about doing this. There is not one child in this world who does not have a connection with technology.
